Chalk Stream Fly-Fishing in Hampshire Near Basingstoke and Close to London

Eight Miles of Society Waters on The River Loddon and The River Lyde

The Society holds the fishing rights for both banks of the Loddon and its tributary the Lyde from the A33 at Sherfield on Loddon to our upstream limits at Old Basing and Newnham. We have been fishing the Loddon valley since 1956.

The rivers have excellent stocks of wild brown trout, some of which reach an outstanding size. Catch and release is encouraged and widely practiced. The Society stocks some beats of The Loddon with brown and rainbow trout.

We also have a good head of chub, some very large, and a few even larger river pike on lower beats of The Loddon; coarse fishing is allowed on several beats outside of the trout season.

The rivers are easily reachable from either the M4 or the M3 and there are numerous parking and access points to ensure you can reach all 8 miles of fishing without too long a hike.

Members benefit from hugely varied fly-fishing, often in solitude, for a very reasonable subscription. The Society has less than 80 paying members who may fish on any three days per week with no need to book beats.
